A brain stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. This prevents oxygen and nutrients from reaching brain cells, causing them to die. Immediate treatment is critical to minimize brain damage, disability, and life-threatening complications.
Types of Stroke
Ischemic Stroke
Caused by a blood clot blocking an artery in the brain. This is the most common type of stroke.
Hemorrhagic Stroke
Occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures, causing bleeding and pressure on brain tissue.
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
Known as a “mini-stroke,” symptoms are temporary but signal a high risk of a future stroke.
